The Spam Eating Monkey Realtime Blacklist
SpamEatingMonkey.com provides real time IP and domain blacklists for use in preventing delivery of unwanted mail.
January 29, 2013 - DNS failure and service outage
We have recently suffered multiple DNS outages causing timeouts while querying our service. This was the result of multiple problems, both human and hardware. These issues have been addressed and are not expected to happen again. We apologize for any problems it may have caused our users.
June 23, 2011 - New TLDs added to FRESH lists
In the last few weeks, SEM-FRESH, SEM-FRESH10, and SEM-FRESH15 have had four new TLDs added. All three lists now include: .AERO, .PRO, .SK, and .TEL TLDs in addition to all of the previous TLDs. More information about these lists is available on the SEM-FRESH list info page.

February 26, 2010 - New IPv6 blacklist
We have just added SEM-IPV6BL which is an IPv6 blacklist containing /64s that have sent unwanted mail to our traps. An unexpected rise in unwanted mail sent to us via IPv6 showed the need for this new list and it already contains several networks.
February 15, 2010 - SEM-BADNETS is deprecated
Due to improvements in the SEM-BLACK list and the difficulty in maintaining any safe level of accuracy with the SEM-BADNETS list we have decided to discontinue SEM-BADNETS. The zone (badnets.spameatingmonkey.net) is now empty and will still exist as an empty zone until February 15, 2011. If you are using this list it is recommended that you disable it to avoid useless queries and minimize delay in your DNS tests.
November 17, 2009 - Problems with NS-H
Due to provider issues with NS-H (located in Germany) it has been pulled from public rotation. At this time all TTLs should have expired and no queries should be going to NS-H.
October 1, 2009 - BlogSpamBL.com service launched
Tired of comment spam? Take a look at the new IP blacklist for comment spammers available at BlogSpamBL.com.
September 23, 2009 - AnonWhois.org service launched
We have created a replacement service for open-whois.org. AnonWhois.org is a drop-in replacement for open-whois.org. Take a look at the usage page to start using it.
July 28, 2009 - IP to ASN map
We have finished compiling an IP to ASN lookup zone. Use of this zone allows you to map an IP to the announcing AS Number, ASN owner and the date the ASN was registered. Usage for the DNS zones can be found on the usage page or you can download the full zones.
July 27, 2009 - Blacklist Comparison Report
SEM is now listed on Jeff Makey's Blacklist Comparison report. While the comparison only tests hit rate and not accuracy rate we are still happy to rank near the top.
July 14, 2009 - DKIM and SPF verification service
You can now test how the outside world views your DKIM and SPF configuration by sending an email to email@example.com. Verification of most signed (not encrypted) GPG/PGP messages also available.
July 13, 2009 - Spamtrap feed available
We are offering the messages received by one of our small (~65K msgs/day) spamtraps in mbox format to people with a good use for them. The archives are available at the end of each day so if you have a use for it then contact us for access.
July 8, 2009 - New service: GeoBL
We have just created a new service designed to track the geographic location of connecting clients. For those that want the ability to tag connections based on country or continent, the service can be configured to return a "hit" response. For more information, see the GeoBL page.
July 4, 2009 - DNS server migration
We will be migrating blns1.spameatingmonkey.net to a new server starting at 06:15 UTC on July 5, 2009. The old server will still be available until the migration is complete and queries drop off. This should reduce the number of dropped DNS queries seen.
